For many years Tagache has been ruled by male chiefs but today the first female assistant chief is availed to the villagers.
It was a colourful event attended by more women than men since they termed it as their show.
In her maiden speech, the new chief, Maureen Achieng Isaiah, said that she will work hand in hand with the senior chief to ensure that the area is safe and secure for everybody to stay and conduct businesses without fear.
While congratulating her, the outgoing assistant chief Mr. ELijah Warioba also encouraged her to work safe and smart so as to take the village to the next level from where he left. He added that Tagache is a good place and even the members are people who are easy to work with.
While sending their congratulatory messages, most women termed this as the best thing that has ever happened to them and also encouraged chief Maureen to be strong and prove to the world that even women too when given chance can make good administrators and leaders.
In his message to the new assistant, the area chief Mr. Ombonya welcomed her new colleague and promised to work together to make Tagache a better place for everyone to stay.
