On Sunday, Prof Rose Odhiambo Ogwang the Chief Officer for Gender, Culture, Inclusivity and Social Services in Migori County, Muhuru Bay-Kenya, led a powerful mentorship and empowerment team to in Muhuru Ward, where they joined students, mothers, and members of the community in celebrating this Year's Mother’s Day in a colorful and impactful event at WISER Girls in Muhuru BAY.
The event brought together development partners, donors, mentors, and community leaders with a shared mission of empowering the girl child and supporting education in the region.
Photo: Erick OtienoDuring the occasion, donors and partners led by a delegation from Airbnb (USA) made significant contributions towards supporting the school’s day-to-day operations, including a donation of 60,000 US dollars aimed at improving learning and welfare programs at the institution.
Betty Adera foundation was among the key partners during the event and donated a large number of dignity pads to the school to support the girls’ health, hygiene, and welfare.
Other organizations and well-wishers also made various donations in support of the learners.
In recognition of the school’s excellent performance and commitment to nurturing girls’ education, the institution also received the prestigious Migori County First Lady’s Trophy — a rotational award presented to a well-performing girls’ school within the county.
Speaking during the event, Prof. Rose Ogwang Odhiambo emphasized the importance of mentorship, education, and collective community support in empowering young girls and shaping a brighter future for them.
The event served as a strong reminder that when leaders, development partners, and communities work together, they can transform lives and create lasting impact for future generations.
