The Chief Officer for Gender, Prof. Rose Ogwang Odhiambo, accompanied H.E. Dr. Ochilo Ayacko, Governor of Migori County, and his Deputy H.E. Mahiri Gimunta, on a visit to families affected by the recent flooding in Angugo (North Kadem Ward) and Kimai (Macalder Kanyarwanda Ward).
During the visit, the County leadership conducted an on-the-ground assessment to better understand the extent of the damage caused by the floods. They also expressed solidarity with the affected residents, many of whom have suffered significant losses to their homes and livelihoods.
In response to the crisis, the County Government of Migori provided immediate relief support, including the distribution of assorted foodstuffs and financial assistance to help affected households cope during this challenging time.
The leadership further reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant agencies and stakeholders to develop and implement long-term, sustainable solutions aimed at reducing the impact of such disasters in the future.
Residents were assured of continued support, with a clear message that the County Government stands with them and will remain actively engaged throughout the recovery process.
